Madonna Nera Brunello di Montalcino 2010
|Appellation||Brunello di Montalcino|
Wine AdvocateThe 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Madonna Nera is a fleshy, fruity and oaky expression with loads of dark fruit intensity that emerges especially strong in this vintage. The wine takes an oak-forward approach to the Sangiovese grape with spice, cinnamon and vanilla that are well mixed within the black cherry, cherry and grilled herb. A few years of aging should help establish a better sense of balance. In the mouth, Brunello Madonna Nera offers tight textural richness with pretty accents of crushed mineral on the finish.
Wine EnthusiastAromas of wild berry, blue flower, vanilla and oak take shape in the glass. The palate offers mature black cherry, vanilla, menthol, mocha and dried sage alongside assertive tannins. It doesn't have quite enough fruit richness to support the tannins. Drink after 2017.
