Trimbach Riesling 2012
Sourced from in and around Trimbach's village of Ribeauvillé, this entry-level, dry Alsatian Riesling is especially successful in 2012. It is enjoyable now for its minerally bouquet and a rich yet firm drinkability, and it will develop for at least several years in the cellar. But most importantly, the versatility of Riesling at the table is nearly unmatched. Keep it in the comfort zone with seafood, poultry, pork, sushi, and a variety of spicy Asian fare, or enjoy challenging it further.
Wine Spectator*#49 on the Top 100 Wines of 2014* The piercing acidity and pronounced minerality weave a fine tapestry in this lovely Riesling, supporting flavors of white peach, slivered almond, lemon confit and oyster shell with a long, mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2024.
Wine EnthusiastA wonderfully aromatic wine that's bone dry, fresh and textured. A steely edge gives a mineral, tight character that emphasizes the youth of the wine. With a dominance of orange and lemon zest, plus juicy acidity, the wine does need a year or two; drink after 2016.
Wine AdvocateTrimbach's commercially most important wine, the 2012 Riesling, is a best buy again. Floral and clear fruit aromas on the nose lead to a round and elegant, perfectly dry, lovely pure and well structured palate with grip and finesse. This is a well-balanced Riesling that should be perfect to drink over the next 5 to 10 years.
