Trimbach Gewurztraminer 2013
Sourced from in and around Trimbach's village of Ribeauvillé, this entry-level, dry Alsatian Riesling is especially successful in 2012. It is enjoyable now for its minerally bouquet and a rich yet firm drinkability, and it will develop for at least several years in the cellar. But most importantly, the versatility of Riesling at the table is nearly unmatched. Keep it in the comfort zone with seafood, poultry, pork, sushi, and a variety of spicy Asian fare, or enjoy challenging it further.
Powdery, creamy notes of rose, orange and mandarin oil unite in a concentrated, punchy palate that focuses on taste rather than aroma. This is rounded and rich with an immensely concentrated phenolic vein that lends structure and poise. The finish is lasting but demure.
Trimbachs classic 2013 Gewurztraminer offers a bright color and bright fruit aromas on the quite spicy, herbal and floral nose where lemon zest and blossoms are displayed. Very elegant, piquant and mineral in its mouthwatering salinity and fruitiness this is a perfectly dry, really ripe, fresh and very well balanced Gewurz with a stimulating grip in the finish. This is a perfect aperitif and pairs well with spicy and exotic dishes but also soft cheeses like Munster.
