Glen Carlou Grand Classique 2011A classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Intriguing aromas of clove, sandalwood and fresh blackcurrant are followed by a velvety smooth palate brimming with ripe berry fruit and well supported by supple tannins and gentle oak.
Alfred Gratien Brut NVThe pale yellow hue of this wine's robe is complemented by its lively effervescence. The bubbles are small and quick to rise to a fine mousse. The nose is moderately intense yet complex. The sweet pastry, biscuit and orchard fruit notes are followed and enhanced by hints of citrus, white flowers and fresh butter. The initial taste is clean: this is a very silky and sparkling wine whose sugar content works well with its body. There is a certain chalky minerality and the texture is smooth. It is characterful without being overbearing. The finish is crisp, with a slight mineral undertone, and long at 6 to 8 seconds. It leaves an excellently balanced acidic aftertaste, with a sugar component that is undeniably pleasing on the palate. Its balanced qualities mean it can be paired quite liberally. Avoid anything too salty, sugary, fatty or spicy, opting instead for balance. Ideal for your savoury or sweet-and-sour hors d'œuvre, and for apéritifs.
Higher Ground Pinot Noir 2015This gem explodes from the glass with layered aromas of ripe blackberries, cherries preserves, and hints of vanilla toffee and toasted oak that extend to the palate. Rich, dark red berry fruit, juicy plum and cranberry flavors are accented with spice notes and a touch of smoky earth. This is an elegant, velvety textured Pinot, yet bright, balanced, and altogether delicious.
Michele Chiarlo Barbera d'Asti Superiore Le Orme 2013Michele Chiarlo sources grapes from strictly selected Barbera vineyards with excellent exposure to produce a superb, balanced wine. The choice vineyards are in the southern area of Asti province, especially the hills around Nizza Monferrato. Temperature controlled maceration and fermentation on the skins yields the dark, rich color that is typical of great Barberas. The wine is aged in large French oak casks before release.
Mer Soleil Santa Lucia Highlands Reserve Chardonnay 2014The Mer Soleil Vineyard is named for the two natural forces that create its growing conditions: sea (mer) and sun (soleil). With plantings at two separate locations in the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation of Monterey County, our Mer Soleil Chardonnay vines are nestled on east-facing lower slopes of the Sierra de Salinas range in what is one of the coolest, direct grape-growing area in Califormia. The climate of this coastal appellation causes morning and evening fog and warm, bright afternoons, a combination that produces the high-quality fruit we use to make this bright, elegant Chardonnay.
