Conreria d'Scala Dei Black Slate Escaladei 2013
|Region||Spain, Catalonia, Priorato|
|Brand||Conreria d'Scala Dei|
Wine AdvocateThe red 2013 Black Slate Scala Dei is a joint venture between Jordi Vidal and US importer Eric Solomon. A classic blend of Garnacha and Cariñena aged in a combination of concrete, old foudres and barriques. It has the red fruit from the colder village of Scala Dei plus the advantage of a cool vintage, so the wine comes through as very fresh with some spiciness, nothing heavy or oaky about it. The tannins are silky, and the texture is very elegant. It feels young and elegant like a Pinot Noir from the south. This is an elegant Priorat for those who avoid the dark, concentrated, powerful wines and who appreciate more the elegant side of a Mediterranean red. Great value too. It was bottled on March 15, 2015 into 12,000 bottles.
