Château-Patache-d'Aux Médoc 2012
The Patache d’Aux has a very well composed, quite refined bouquet that shows good ripeness and prudent use of oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, ripe, quite sturdy tannins and a conservative, but nicely focused, fresh finish that bodes well for the future.
Wine AdvocateAnother of the small estates of Jean-Michel Lapalu, this is a wine I've been drinking for over 35 years. (I have very fond memories of 1982, which I believe sold for $3.00 or $4.00 a bottle.) This successful 2012 offers juicy red and black fruits, spice and earth, a medium-bodied, supple texture. A velvety style of wine, it has a healthy dark ruby/purple color and impressive purity, all suggesting an impeccably made wine to drink over the next 5-7 years. It is a sleeper of the vintage.
Wine SpectatorBramble, plum and red currant notes are melded here, with a pebbly feel giving the finish some spine. Drink now. 25,000 cases made.
