Herencia-Altés Garnatxa Negra 2015
The colour is intense and lively with a core of garnet with a bright ruby rim. Stony minerality overlay black fruits and spice on the nose. On the palate, the wine is full bodied with luscious sweet fruit and soft tannins. Fresh berry fruit and toasty notes enrich the structure and natural complexity of the old vines. “A full and round sensation, to be enjoyed with grilled meat of all sorts”

Wine AdvocateThere is a new entry level red from the village of Altea produced exclusively with Garnacha grapes, simply called 2015 Garnatxa Negra (the Catalan spelling of the grape) from grapes purchased from growers. It's a fresh, fruit-driven and unoaked light red fermented in stainless steel and kept in cement for a couple of months before bottling. There is a faint phenolic character here, over a mixture of red and black fruit, quite ripe with some flowers. I also tasted from a bottle that had been open for 24 hours and it had developed a tarry note. The palate shows austere tannins, medium bodied with a good length. Impressive for the price. 100,000 bottles in different lots.
Wine SpectatorBlack cherry, olive, licorice and light tar notes mingle in this lively red. Fresh acidity and light tannins lend this just enough structure, but the focus is on the fruit. Drink now. 25,000 cases made.
