Prinsi Barbaresco Gaia Principe 2011
The 2011 Barbaresco Gaia Principe opens to a bright garnet, compact appearance with subtle aromas of pressed rose, wild berry, balsam herb and dried mint. It shows a steady evolution in the glass with multiple aromatic layers of dark fruit and lightly toasted spice that follow in close sequence. The mouthfeel is lighter and less impactful in 2011, making this a good near-term proposition. Drink: 2015-2022.
Aromas of butterscotch, toasted oak, roasted coffee and espresso follow through to the palate along with notes of black pepper. There's not enough fruit richness to stand up to the astringent, woody tannins.
