Dominio de Eguren Codice 2013
This Tempranillo wine is from the Castilla region in Spain. The nose offers cherry, cough drop and black fruit with notes of spicy pepper. The medium bodied juicy wine shows seamless texture with bright berry, mocha and a kick of spice. Finishes silky and precise, with lingering spiciness and smooth tannins.

Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Codice Tinto might even be better than the Protocolo Tinto. This is a 10,000-case cuvée that was aged six months in tank, followed by six months in a combination of French and American oak prior to bottling. More chalky minerality comes through, as well as blacker currants, licorice, roasted herbs and loamy soil undertones. It is medium-bodied, shows loads of fruit, good purity, and again is a killer value. Drink now through 2017.
Wine EnthusiastGamy, roasted berry and plum aromas are a bit leathery. This is full in body, with bracing tomato-like acidity. Saucy flavors of bacon and baked fruits finish a touch sticky.
Wine SpectatorThis brisk red offers cherry, cola and leafy flavors, supported by light, firm tannins and crisp acidity. Light, slightly bitter and refreshing. Tempranillo. Drink now. 10,000 cases made.
