Marietta Old Vine Lot 63 Red NV
"The Bilbro brothers, Jake and Scott, have taken over for father, Chris, who is still very much involved, but the newer generation has the responsibility and ownership of Limerick Lane Cellars, where they have done an amazing job within a few short years.
Ripe, juicy fruit and a lush mouth feel are the hallmarks of Old Vine Red, with peppery spice and dusty earth adding an extra level of richness. Moderate but focused tannins ensure this blend will stand up to almost any food."
VinousVinous Marietta's Old Vine Red Lot 63 is a juicy, mouthfilling Zinfandel-based red to drink now and over the next few years. Although not especially complex, the Lot 63 is absolutely delicious for what it is. Best of all, pricing remains extremely budget-friendly. (AG)
Wine AdvocateRobert Parker's Wine Advocate Their great value pick, which has essentially underwritten the winery’s success for many years, is their non-vintage Old Vine, and in this case, the NV Old Vine Red Lot 63, the sixty-third rendition of this lovely blend. Dominated by Zinfandel, but also containing Syrah and Petite Sirah, it’s always meant as a boisterous, exuberant Mediterranean-style red, the likes of which are easy to find in parts of Spain, Southern Italy and Southern France. The oak is pushed back to a minimum, and the NV Lot 63 includes wine from four vintages: 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, which makes these blends about two years of age. It’s an amazing value and has been in every rendition. Deep ruby in color, with notes of pepper, grilled or roasted herbs, steak tartare and briary, delicious black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, the wine is well-made, medium-bodied, supple and luscious.
